ABOUT POWERPLAY

PowerPlay Hockey, formerly PowerPlay Sports Camp, opened its doors in 2000. It began as an on-ice program emphasizing the integration of power skating and skills training and has now developed into a multi-faceted hockey development program.

PowerPlay adheres to two emergent Canadian movements that work cohesively: Active For Life and Canadian Sport for life. Firstly, Active for Life promotes physical literacy. Physical education leads to physical literacy, which is essential for child development. Secondly, Canadian Sport for Life (CS4L) is designed to improve the quality of sport and physical activity in Canada through improved athlete training and better integration between all stakeholders in the sport system, including sport organizations, education, recreation and health. A key feature of CS4L is Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD), a development pathway whereby athletes follow optimal training, competition, and recovery regimens from childhood through all phases of adulthood. For more information on the Long-Term Athlete Development Model, visit http://www.canadiansportforlife.ca/learn-about-canadian-sport-life/ltad-stages.

We are a passionate group of individuals that know what it takes to compete at high levels.  We want to guide them through their development. We stress the importance of the integration of power skating, skills, conditioning, nutrition education and mental training to ensure all around player development.

At PowerPlay, we engage, challenge, empower and support youth through sport to help them become strong leaders of tomorrow.

PowerPlay continues to push the envelop in athlete development in Northern Ontario and we will not quit.
